18It’s a show and a fan base that has grown with the internet. When “Lost” debuted there was no YouTube, no Twitter, podcasting was practically unheard of, and Facebook was well before it’s prime. While other shows hope that viewers discuss and create an online phenomenon, and try and push it into happening, “Lost” didn’t start out asking fans for that level of involvement. Part of it is because the show naturally causes discussion and the internet is a great place to turn to for that discourse, but these fans often seem connected by their inspired creative abilities.
I think that there was a large group of creative people out there that wanted to tap into these new forms of social interaction online, and that for many of these people “Lost” was a catalyst.
